If you'd like to start your own business on eBay, you've first got to find the best selling items on eBay. This is a lot easier than you think.

To find the best selling items on eBay, first head over to eBay pulse. This is a tool that allows you to find out what the most searched for items are in each category.

You'll be presented with a generic list of around 10 items. This is great, but far too general. Click on the category drop down menu and you'll find another list of categories. For the sake of the argument, let's choose "video games". We're presented with a list like this:

1. Games

2. Network

3. Xbox 360

4. PSP

5. Guitar Hero World Tour

6. Wii

7. PS3

8. Nintendo Ds

9. Wii Games

10. Nintendo Wii

Again, not a bad list, but to uncover hot niche items we need to dig a little further. Click on the category drop down again and you'll find the category "vintage games". Now, this is definitely going to be a niche worth looking at. Click on the link. Here's the top 10 most searched for within this category:

1. Nintendo

2. Vintage Video Games

3. Sealed

4. Atari

5. Video Games

6. New

7. Atari 2600

8. PSP

9. Nes

10. Arcade

Do you notice #7 "Atari 2600". This is a specific item that gets a lot of searches in this category. If we click on this link we'll be taken over to the live auctions.

To find out which are the best selling items in this category we need to click on the "completed listings" tab on the left hand side panel. Please note: you will need to be logged in to use this function.

Once you've got your list of completed items, congratulate yourself. You now have a list of the best selling items on eBay for this particular category.

How Can We Use This Hot Niche Item List?

By using the swipe and list method, you can actually bid on these items quite late at night or in the early hours of the morning when the competition is very small. Some of my clients have achieved 50-75% off the purchase price of winning bids, simply because the vendor had their auction finishing at the wrong time.

Simply re-list the item once you've had delivery and end it on a Sunday evening when the bids on eBay are at their highest.
