1. Head over to eBay pulse. This is an eBay tool that allows you to find the most searched for items by category. It also shows you which are the most popular stores for this category too!
2. Click on the drop down menu for these categories and you'll presented with a generic list. Let's choose electronics. We get a list like this:
1. iPod Touch
2. iPod
3. Mcintosh
4. iPod Nano
5. GPS
6. Mp3 Player
7. Nintendo DS
8. PSP
9. Cell Phones
10. Bose
Even though this list is great, it's still to general. We simply click on the drop down menu again and see a new category called GPS navigation. Click on that link and we're presented with a new list:
1. GPS
2. Garmin
3. Garmin Gps
4. GPS Navigation
5. Garmin Nuvi
6. Tomtom
7. Tom Tom
8. Tom Tom Gps
9. Map
10. Garmin Nuvi 760
Now this list is a lot better. This is what we call in the internet marketing industry as niche item list. Notice #10 the "Garmin Nuvi 760". This is a specific item within this category with a model number. You can't really get a more targeted niche product.
3. Click on this item and eBay will send you over to the live listings for these products. Now, even though this list is great, we want to find the best selling items.
4. Click on "completed listing" on the left hand side panel. Note: you will need to be logged into eBay to view this list. You will then be presented with a completed listings of the Garmin Nuvi 760. Both the time and dates are displayed here and in essence you've found your best selling items on eBay.
eBay Selling Tips
You're probably wondering exactly what you can do with this list. You can apply the "swipe and list method" which is bidding on the previous list of live items quite late at night or in the early hours of the morning.
Why?
Little or no competition for bids. You can win anything from 5-60% off the price it should sell for.
When you receive your item, re-list it straight away and have the ending time on a Sunday evening. This is the busiest time for item bids. There you go, a classic buy low sell high example.

1. Head over to eBay pulse and find the most searched for items in each category. This smart little tool also shows you the most popular stores for each category too if you wanted to reverse engineer any of them to find out what they're doing. I digress.
2. Click on the category drop down list and we'll use an example. Let's use "clothing, shoes & accessories" the ladies favorite and we're presented with a list like this:
1. Coach
2. Chanel
3. Handbags
4. Rings
5. Ed Hardy
6. Shoes
7. Burberry
8. Gucci
9. Bebe
10. Coach Handbags
I'll think you'll agree that this is quite a generic list and far too general. Click on the drop down menu again and we'll choose "women's handbags & bags" category. This is the list:

6. Juicy Couture
7. Burberry
8. Guess
9. Balenciaga

Do you notice #6 Juicy Couture? This looks like a nice niche item with tons of popular searches for it. Click on the Juicy Couture link and we'll be taken over to the live auction for these items.
Now, to find the best selling items on eBay for this category we need to click on the "completed listings" tab. Note: you'll need to be logged in to use this function. Congratulate yourself, you've now got a list of the best selling items by date, time and price sold.
What Can You Do With This Information?
Simply use the "swipe and list method" which is the technique of bidding and purchasing items quite late at night or in the early hours of the morning when there's little competition. Trust me here, you can get items as cheap as 40-50% lower than what they should sell for if you know what you're doing. This is simple buy low and sell high stuff.
Simply re-list the item once you've received delivery and make sure you end the auction on a Sunday evening which statistically is the time where you get the most bids.
If you're in a niche where it's still quite competitive and there are lost of similar items, I'd start the bidding really low, say $1 and list the item on either 7 -10 auction. By the time it comes to the last day, you'll have plenty of bids and people will be attracted to your auction like flies on (sheep). This is a a nice little technique I use to gather lots of interest.
What also happens is eBay will complete the automated task of emailing each potential buyer on a regular basis telling them to up their bids. Quite nice to have a helping hand from eBay I think.

A question that often gets asked is "How do I find out what the best selling items on eBay are?" The question isn't too difficult to answer. You head over to eBay pulse.
What's eBay pulse?
This is an eBay tool that allows you to find out what the top searched for items are in any given category. It also supplies data of the most successful eBay stores within each category too! This is marketing intel gold, and better still, it's free!
The best way to use eBay pulse is by clicking on the "all categories" drop down list which brings up a generic category list. From here we can delve a little further into each category to find out some niche categories. For example, I chose the "Camera and Photos" category and found the Hasselblad camera at #8 on this listing.
To find out what were the best sellers in this category, I simply clicked on the link that took me over to the auctions for the Hasselblad camera and clicked on the "completed listing tab". Please note: You will need to be signed in to use this function.
Once you've clicked on this tab you'll be shown a nice list of "sold items". This list is out best sellers.
What Can We Do With This List?
The way I personally monetize this list for a eBay great business opportunity is by producing an information product on this topic. Probably ranging from "How to get the best out of your Hasselblad camera" or "Hints and tips on taking a better picture with your Hasselblad camera". I either write this myself or outsource this to be written from places like ScriptLance or Elance. The document would be no longer than around 15-20 pages of A4.
Head over to ClickBank or Paydotcom and find an affiliate product to promote. An affiliate product is basically a product that has been produced by someone else and who offer you a share in the profit if a sale is made. We'll promote these by way of an affiliate link embedded into our written document.
From here we embed those links into the document and turn that document into a PDF file. There are many ways to do this, my favorite bit of software is called "Open Source", but feel free to use whichever PDF software you like.
I then get a nice eBook picture designed for my product, write a nice little sales page to accompany it and started selling these into my chosen niche. When someone buys the eBook and clicks on one of the affiliate links I get paid for each sale. So, not only are you making money on what we call the "front end", we're also making back-end sales of the affiliate product.
When someone purchases an eBook from you, simply burn it onto CD ROM and ship it out to them. if you though there was more, that's it! Simple technique eh?
You're probably looking at a 1-3% conversion but that's not too bad. If done well, simply rinse and repeat with different categories in eBay pulse.

Once you've clicked on this tab you'll be shown a nice list of "sold items". This list is out best sellers.
What Can We Do With This List?
The way I personally monetize this list for a eBay great business opportunity is by producing an information product on this topic. Probably ranging from "How to get the best out of your Hasselblad camera" or "Hints and tips on taking a better picture with your Hasselblad camera". I either write this myself or outsource this to be written from places like ScriptLance or Elance. The document would be no longer than around 15-20 pages of A4.
Head over to ClickBank or Paydotcom and find an affiliate product to promote. An affiliate product is basically a product that has been produced by someone else and who offer you a share in the profit if a sale is made. We'll promote these by way of an affiliate link embedded into our written document.
From here we embed those links into the document and turn that document into a PDF file. There are many ways to do this, my favorite bit of software is called "Open Source", but feel free to use whichever PDF software you like.
I then get a nice eBook picture designed for my product, write a nice little sales page to accompany it and started selling these into my chosen niche. When someone buys the eBook and clicks on one of the affiliate links I get paid for each sale. So, not only are you making money on what we call the "front end", we're also making back-end sales of the affiliate product.
When someone purchases an eBook from you, simply burn it onto CD ROM and ship it out to them. if you though there was more, that's it! Simple technique eh?
You're probably looking at a 1-3% conversion but that's not too bad. If done well, simply rinse and repeat with different categories in eBay pulse.

There are many people that really struggle when trying to find something to sell on eBay. Here's some eBay selling tips to show you how to make money on eBay.
A lot of people start off by selling their unwanted gifts and stuff lying around the house. This is fine until you run out of things to sell. Once this happens you're going to need more stock to keep this gravy train on track.
Here's What I Do.
I sell information products on CD/DVD. Let me explain why I do this and how I'm able to make a full time living just by selling these types of products.
1. I research eBay for the most popular searched for items. For this I use a tool called eBay pulse. This basically shows me what the most searched for items are in each and every category. This is marketing intel gold. This will give you a guideline of what to write about later on. Don't just come across the first category and choose a topic from there. You have the ability to drill down further still to find a rabid niche market with their credit cards at the ready.
2. I'll give you an example. I searched under the category cameras and photos and found a nice list of 10 most searched for items. You had the usual Nikon brand and canon etc. Listed at number 9 on that list was something called a Hasselblad which is a brand name I'd never heard of. I decided to do some more digging by visiting a few of these auctions only to find that these people were spending on average $1500 on cameras and assessories.
3. This is a niche market where people are buying in large quantities. In order to write about this, I type "Hasselblad Cameras" into Google to find out more about them so that I can write a "How to get more out of your Hasselblad camera" or " How to take great shots with your Hasselblad Camera" eBook. Can you see what I've done here. I've found a niche market where the selling price is high and based my topic on helping the purchaser once they've purchased their camera.
4. I then set about to write my eBook with the information I've taken from the net (rewritten in my own words) and then add some affiliate links scattered throughout my eBook. Now, if you don't know what an affiliate link is, it's a link that goes back to a someone else's product or website. They pay a commission for every sale made there and in turn reward me with a share in the profit. So not only are you making money from the sale of eBook burned to CD, you're also making money on what we call the back end. This is similar to buying a cheap new printer but paying over the top for printer ink. The printer is the front end and the ink is the back end.
Some eBay Selling Tips:

Now, even though I'm not discouraging you to sell these items, the marketplace is fierce and the chances of you getting a good wholesale price for this item is rare. There is another way though. A different way that most people haven't even thought of.
Buy Retail Sell Retail
There are very few people that use this technique and I'll probably get blasted in the forums for revealing this. Every so often, websites like Amazon want to shift stock that hasn't shifted as well as they thought it would and now offer these through "special offers". If you go to the main page you should see a link marked "special offers".
50 - 75% Off
These items have anything from 50 - 75% off the listed price. These are the exact same items we're going to buy and sell on eBay. Don't believe me, go ahead and take a look for yourself.
I've made a ton of money selling software like this. I don't know, for some reason the buying decision has already been made by the time they arrive at eBay and my stats show that they're only on the auction for a matter of seconds before they click the "buy" button. As you can appreciate, I can't really go into every single tactic I use in this article and to be fair 99% of people read and don't take action anyway. I think it's fear of the unknown?

Go along to eBay pulse to find out what the hottest products are in each individual category. This simple tool is so powerful it's actually underused in my experience. Really drill down into each category because we're not looking for the usual suspects here. We're looking for hot niche items with buyers with their credit cards at the ready.

Nearly everyone that wants to start their own eBay business goes for the most obvious and sexy products like consumer electronics. Now, even though I'm not discouraging you to sell these items, the marketplace is fierce and the chances of you getting a good wholesale price for this item is rare. There is another way though. A different way that most people haven't even thought of.
Buy Retail Sell Retail
There are very few people that use this technique and I'll probably get blasted in the forums for revealing this. Every so often, websites like Amazon want to shift stock that hasn't shifted as well as they thought it would and now offer these through "special offers". If you go to the main page you should see a link marked "special offers".
50 - 75% Off
These items have anything from 50 - 75% off the listed price. These are the exact same items we're going to buy and sell on eBay. Don't believe me, go ahead and take a look for yourself.
I've made a ton of money selling software like this. I don't know, for some reason the buying decision has already been made by the time they arrive at eBay and my stats show that they're only on the auction for a matter of seconds before they click the "buy" button. As you can appreciate, I can't really go into every single tactic I use in this article and to be fair 99% of people read and don't take action anyway. I think it's fear of the unknown?

Go to eBay pulse and find out what's hot and selling really well. if you need some upfront advice. Don't even bother trying to sell IPODS or PS3's as you'd need to buy a container load just to break even. This is a mistake so many people new to eBay make and ends up costing them a pretty penny. There a literally thousands of products to choose from if you delve deeper into each category on eBay pulse.
The eBay Reverse Reconnaissance Method (TERRM)
This sound like you're going to war doesn't it. Well I've got news for you. You are? Selling the odd item on eBay is easy. making it a business is another. You need some sneaky, secret behind the door strategies to be successful and this is something 95% of the eBay sellers just don't see.
TERRM is the method of copying what successful eBay sellers are doing and selling and then improving on it:
They may have a best selling item - but don't show any colorful pictures
They may have a short description of the item - but don't show the true feature and benefits.
They may have all of the above - but don't have a short video presentation (shopping channel style)
When using TERRM you're going to do all of these things and more. Congratulations, you now know something 95% of new and veteran eBay sellers don't. The idea is not to reinvent the wheel or try to create new markets. You'll get on the road to success a lot quicker if you sell with a proven product and use a few sneaky tactics to blast the competition out of the water with ease.

People often wonder what the correct way or the right steps are to help them in make money on e bay: the non bogus version. Let's take a look.
I'll show you first how I make money on eBay.
1. I list several low priced eBooks on very popular topics. For topic ideas I use eBay's very own tool called eBay pulse. At this point I don't see any need to reinvent the wheel and only promote topics I already know are selling pretty well.
2. I either write the eBooks myself or I'll sell a resale right product that someone else has written. Either way, I have full control of what that person reads and the affiliate links they'll click on within that eBook. Don't know what an affiliate link is? This is a link back to high priced product where I'll share the commission if my client purchases it.
3. The low priced eBook is way of getting a new client without there being a lot of heavy risk on their side. To be fair the eBooks are quite basic and only really give the client a taste of information on that subject.
4. The idea is to promote a higher priced product within the basic one you've just sold them and then profit from any affiliate sales that may arise.
5. It's a numbers game, but a game that works very well. For example, if you promote products from the weight loss category or get rid of acne category it's very easy to up-sell (sell a higher priced item off the back of a low level entry item).
Many new eBay sellers start out selling their old junk on eBay and have a bit of success and then apply the same logic to selling new items by they've bought wholesale. I've got some news for them. In today's eBay world it's increasingly difficult to make money this way as the competition is fierce and you need to buy a boat load of stuff just to get your average wholesale price to a level where you can compete with the big boys. There's an easier way.
Sell Information Products
By selling information products, from the get go your product costs are super low. In effect the price of a CD? DVD and if you've written the eBook yourself then it's just your time that you've sacrificed. Do you see the difference. You're basically leveraging your own time to make money, promoting products you already know are selling into a hungry marketplace.
As I mentioned before, you're probably best to do your research first on something like eBay pulse to find out where the hungry markets are and where people aren't afraid to get their credit cards out!

eBay classified ads are something of a revelation. So many people just don't get it. This form of marketing is so powerful I think eBay should charge more for it.
Here's how the smart marketers use eBay classified ads.
1. The first thing you do is research a hungry market. The way to find out where a hungry market is is to take a look at eBay pulse. This will tell you what's selling by rank. No need to reinvent the wheel here, simply sell what's already selling and you can't go wrong.
2. Once you've found an item that already selling, find out if there are range of affiliate products to promote in this category. I'm guessing there probably is since it's a sellers marketplace. Don't know what an affiliate product is. This is a high priced product that someone else has either written or designed and they're willing to share the profits with you. Sometimes the share can be as much as 75% on some products.
3. Purchase that product and write your own version of that product but don't give away ALL of the details. This is going to be a little taster for your client. Don't worry, it'll only need to be around 10 - 15 pages in length.
4. Get an ebook cover designed. This is easy, simply type into Google "ebook cover designed" and you'll find lots of people willing to do this for a small fee.
5. Make sure you have affiliate links dotted throughout the eBook or even at the end. This will lead to back-end sales of our affiliate product. Here's the process broken down:
Customer sees your classified ad for free information on a hungry market. They click on the link which could be an email address, telephone number or my favourite and opt-in form (where people ask for information by inserting their name and email address).
They sign up and receive your the ebook you've just written on the killer "I've got to get my credit card out" topic and receive their free ebook via email. Now your content still needs to be of sufficient quality, just don't reveal all. What you're hoping for is the client will like what you've published and want even more information. That's where the affiliate links within the ebook come into play.
They click on one of those links for more information, purchase our back-end product. Everybody's happy. They've received the information they wanted in the first place and you've made a commission from selling an affiliate product off the the back of your initial free ebook. Not a bad strategy eh?
